80’s Day @ School
Today was 80’s day at Papaya’s school for spirit week. We had a blast getting her ready and finding things 80-like around her room. All the way from scrunch socks, jelly bracelets, blue eyeshadow, side pony, big hoop earrings.. She looks way too adorable!
Perfectly said by Golden, “put some ballerina flats on her and she’s a fashion icon!” It’s funny how times/styles repeat themselves.

At around 1:00 pm today we got telephone call from an officer letting us know that they found our truck. Unfortunately, he also let us know it was found in the Duwamish River. Apparently it was completely submerged under water. At some point today the tides changed course and the vehicle became visible. It was towed to an impound yard and we went to go see the truck & take some photos before the insurance adjusters picked it up.
We got to the impound yard and had to fill out some paperwork before we could see the truck. One of the men that worked there thought he was cute & funny when he asked “Kelli” to “Please show these people to their 2006 Ford Submarine”.. That wasn’t too funny to me at that point and time. Another worker laughed and joked that our truck was a “Sea Monster”.
All the windows (with the exception of ONE) had been busted out. The front seats were gone. The ignition was broken. It already smelled like MOLD. Water was STILL dripping from the ceiling. The cup holders were filled with water/muck. The remaining seats were soaked!! The driver seatbelt was tied to the steering wheel, not sure if that was done by the thieves or the towing company. Who knows how long it was under water before it was found! The electrical system is shot, I’m sure! There is no way that our truck is salvageable. ?? I’m SO UPSET!!
We do have rental car insurance BUT that still costs money. We’re trying to exhaust all of our other options first. DLo is on vacation starting Saturday, so 1 vehicle will be ok for now. ONTOP of all this, we still have to make our car note until this gets cleared up, which is due next week!! Who knows how long this is going to take!
Good morning. God has given us the capacity for thorough, painstaking work! (But!!!) You must give yourself credit for the work you are doing, and know that your patient, constant efforts are building something worthwhile. Always stop, be thankful and smell the roses… We, as humans, sometimes have a tendency towards fanatic workaholism and extremism. When you’re a hard worker…. (WE MUST) view whatever loses, disappointments, or endings, that occur, in our lives, as necessary, even if they are painful in the immediate instance. ALL IS GOOD! Keep on keepin’ on!

When it rains. . . .
It pours AND they steal your truck!!!
Yesterday morning DLo had to be to work by 5:00 am. I awoke to him getting ready and heard the rain pouring!! “Great.. Today is a soccer day. This is going to suck!” We both laughed. 15 minutes later, my cell phone is ringing. It’s DLo.
“F*&^!!!!! Look outside! The Expidition is gone! Call 911!”
I seriously thought he was playing. I ran to the window and sure ’nuff, where I parked the truck the night before was empty! I called 911 and the first thing the officer asked me was “Do you owe any monies on the vehicle? And if so, are you current on the payments?” I had to laugh at that one, but I see his point. We’ve only had the truck since JANUARY! Our first note was due in MARCH and it’s only MAY! The 3rd payment would be due this week.
An officer arrived at our house 2 1/2 hours after we called. He was pretty nice and told us that they have recovered vehicled anywhere from 15 minutes to TWO YEARS! Special! Thank goodness DLo is on Holiday starting Thursday so we just have to figure out carpooling for 3 days since we’re down to 1 truck.
The one thing I’m thankfull for is that we leave NOTHING in our trucks!! The night before I made sure that Bubba’s baseball bag was out of the truck!! Tater had a little friend stay the night and I made sure she took her soccer bag out as well. The little thiefs got away with MAYBE 3 CD’s and a water bottle!!
Makes you wonder WHY you bust your ass to have a house in a nice neighborhood and shit like this still happens!! In the 2 years that we’ve lived here, 3 cars have been stolen and several broken into! Maybe it’s time to move, but it’s not a guarantee that this doesn’t happen everywhere. According to Mr. Nice Officer, those stats are considered “Very Good” for a 2 year period in a “Nice” neighborhood!! WTF?
I’m praying they find our truck in good condition and that someone just wanted a joy ride. If not, thank GOODNESS for GAP insurance!!
You said it best, Rev Run

“Good morning. We must have a DEEP sense of purpose and the will to fulfill it.. WE MUST… Resolve old, unfinished business and eliminate toxic people and attitudes from our lives. We MUST.. Work hard, have long periods of study and CONCENTRATED efforts. We must…Withdraw and sever ties with people who are not truly aligned with our best long term interests… (Finally!) Focus exclusively on your ambitions and what is important to you. ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS AND MOVE FOWARD!!!
God is Love, Rev Run”
When I got to work this morning, the quote above was waiting for me. Sometimes things appear at the RIGHT time. I will definitely take the advice from the Rev, because it’s something I’ve been trying to do for sometime now.
What’s Been Up?
WOW.. You take a week off for yourself and it turns into a few months! Didn’t mean for that to happen!!
I got a new job! Well, not really a new new job.. Just a new position w/in the same company. But it feels like a whole ‘nother company! One with no drama (yet) and where I’m not dreading going in in the mornings! My stress level has been down like you wouldn’t believe over the last 4-5 weeks!
The kids are great! Papaya & Tater are both in soccer. Bubba tried out (and made) Major (little) League Baseball. This was the first year he could try out, being that he’s 11 now. The season is coming to a close w/in the next 2 weeks, so that will free up ALOT of time. Papaya tried out (and made) the school cheer squad for next year. Damn.. 8th Grade!
Since my last post, Papaya had a birthday and is now THIRTEEN! If anyone has/had a 13 year old and knows what hormonal hell I’m going thru…. Please let a girl know!! She is SO sweet 1 minute and the next, it’s like a demon child took my sweet baby girl.
All else has been ok. I’ve been trying to lurk in on everyone, but not sure I was very good at it!! Ok.. Time to get ready for the day.
